Change happens.
Change happens every single day, several times a day.
Whether you cause the change or you have to deal with change brought about by other people and situations out of your control, it still happens. I am more than sure that we could all agree that it can be overwhelming and nerve wrecking. I mean honestly, some of us shut down and run at the mere thought of change. Change is scary, but do not be fearful. Change is great as long as it is for the betterment of self. When you refuse change, you refuse growth. Change is the preceptor to growth. When you refuse change, you run from being your best self out of fear of the unknown. We must change to grow because growth is a priority, and growth is a form of self-care and self-love. Allow God to work in you and mold you into who he wants you to be, not who you think you should be.
The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines change as "to undergo a modification of." When we change we are modifying our whole life! From personal experience, I can boldly say that change is extremely uncomfortable, but the reward that comes from change is well worth it. If you are a stranger of change, you might be wondering what the result is but it is pretty simple. Change and modification of lifestyles result in constant elevation, new perspectives, optimistic attitudes, redirected passions, and purposeful goals. When I think of change, I think of seasons. When I think of seasons the scripture Ecclesiastes 3:1 comes to me and it reads: "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens." The time for change is now. Do not wait for tomorrow because for one tomorrow is not promised and secondly, why know better and not do better? God always wants us to elevate, inspire, and grow. In James 4:17 he says "If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them."
Think about it this way...what happens when your clothes get dirty? You change them, right? I would hope you do, but when you do what is the next step? You put clean, unstained clothes on. Okay, to use another example...are butterflies born beautiful? What happens for them to get to that point? They undergo change that is referred to as metamorphosis. Do you get where I am going with this? If not, let me break it down further. Changing requires you to focus solely on God's purpose for your life and clean house to get rid of the dirt in your life and replace it with things that are new, clean, and purified. One of my favorite singers Jhene Aiko beautifully said in her song "Spotless Mind", "Change is inevitable. Why hold onto what you have to let go of?" I could not agree with her more. Let go of whatever is holding you back from being your greatest self. You do not want to live your entire life as just "potential." I was once called "potential" and at the time it truly offended me because I felt that I was where I needed to be, but hearing that I had "potential" was a major driving force of me morphing into this woman that I am today. Looking back at where I was, I can say that I was in fact just potential, BUT NOT TODAY SATAN. I did not know my true strength, power, or self for a matter of fact. It was not until I entered a period of drastic change that I began growing and I mean it is amazed me how quickly change happened for me. Change brought about clarity. With clarity came understanding and open eyes. During change you might relationships with friends, family, etc. and that is perfectly fine. Please understand and boldly accept that veryone is not meant to go where you are going so it is best that they go. If they can not "boss up" then they have to go because after a certain point the two of you will be on different frequencies and that causes constant conflict. Some of the people I called friends felt that I was no longer myself and that is right. I am a new being with a new outlook on life and I rely on no one to make me feel accepted or whole. I am set apart, called. You may be too. Tap into it.
Life is entirely too short to settle and constantly be on the border. Cross the line and experience change for yourself. Go at it with full force and never doubt yourself. Accept change and embrace the lessons within it all because one day you will look back and smile with your eyes to the sky, thanking God himself for working in you.
My sister used to always sing "Changed" by Tremaine Hawkins in the shower and it would always touch my soul even at a young age. Hearing the words of that song today means so much more to me than it ever has. I can resonate with it and I thank God every single day for bringing me so far.
"A change , a change has come over me.
He changed my life and now I'm free.
He washed away all my sins, and he made me whole,
He washed me white as snow.
He changed, my life complete, and now I sit I sit at his feet. To do what must be done I'll work and work, until he comes"
-Tremaine Hawkins
I'll include Jhene Aiko's song Spotless Mind below as well for you all:
Be blessed,
